NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Atlantic 10 Conference released their weekly women's basketball awards and recognized University of Dayton freshman
Tenin Magassa as the Rookie of the Week.
Magassa had a breakout performance with a career-high 19 points to go with seven rebounds and five blocks. The 6-5 France native also went 9-of-12 from the floor for 75 percent shooting, and dished out two assists.
This season, Magassa has appeared in all seven games and is contributing 8.1 points and 5.1 rebounds off the bench, all in just 19.1 minutes per game. She is shooting a team-high 59.5 percent from the field.
The Flyers are 6-1 on the season and 5-0 in Atlantic 10 play, winning their last five contests.
This is the second award for a Dayton player this season with fellow freshman
Makira Cook picking up A-10 Rookie of the Week honors on Jan. 4.
