MIAMISBURG, Ohio – The University of Dayton men's tennis team won Friday night's home opener 4-3 against Youngstown State at South Regency Tennis Center in Miamisburg.

The victory is the first of the season for the Flyers, improving to 1-4 on the season.

Georgi Mavrodiev clinched the point taking the No. 3 doubles contest over Youngstown State.

The Flyers continued to find success early in singles play. Mavrodiev got a win for the Flyers in No. 6 singles in straight sets, while sophomore
Matt DeMarco also picked up a victory in No. 5 singles, taking the final two frames convincingly after dropping set one.

Connor Bruce clinched the match with a three-set victory in No. 1 singles, taking down Valisis Vardakis of YSU.

The Flyers will return to action on Sunday to take on Marquette at 10 a.m. at South Regency.
