DAYTON – The University of Dayton men's tennis team will play two home matches this weekend, both coming tomorrow. The Flyers will first take on Cedarville at 11 a.m. before coming back for a Friday night contest against Bellarmine at 7 p.m. The matches will take place at South Regency Tennis Center in Miamisburg.
Â
UD will take a three-match winning streak into the weekend after completing a 7-0 sweep of Saint Francis on Feb. 21. The Flyers sit at 3-4 overall this season. This past week marked the second-consecutive week that sophomore
Connor Bruce received a conference honor, being named Atlantic 10 Men's Tennis Co-Performer of the Week for his effort against the Red Flash.
Â
Cedarville will play for the first time since Feb. 13 when the Yellow Jackets got their first win of the season, taking down Thomas More 7-0, putting the team's record at 1-1. Sophomore Toshi Watanabe is the only member of the Yellow Jackets to win both of his first matches of the season, sitting at 2-0 in No. 2 singles in 2021.
Â
Bellarmine comes into the match with a 3-8 record in 2021 after splitting last week's matches against Eastern Illinois and Illinois State. The Knights defeated EIU 5-2 on Feb. 20 before returning the next day and falling by the same score against ISU. Cole Grotsch sits at No. 1 singles for Bellarmine with a 3-7 record overall in the flight after also splitting over the past weekend.
