NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Atlantic 10 Conference released its weekly women's basketball awards Monday and recognized University of Dayton freshman
Tenin Magassa as Rookie of the Week.
This is the second accolade for the 6-5 freshman center, having previously received the award on Jan. 18.
Last week, Magassa averaged 13.7 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 4.0 blocks per game while shooting 64.3 percent from the floor. She opened the week with 16 points, nine rebounds, and eight blocks, which is tied for the fourth most in a game in UD history. She went on to have another nine-rebound outing in the victory at Saint Joseph's before finishing off the week with a career-high 20 points on 9-of-11 shooting in the win at La Salle.
The Flyers are 10-1 on the season and 9-0 in A-10 play, sitting atop the league standings. Dayton has won nine games in a row while going 7-0 in away games this season.
Dayton returns to action this Friday at home against Richmond at 5 p.m.
