Men's Tennis To Host Northern Kentucky In Midweek Contest Wednesday

Flyers Are 6-0 At Home In 2021

DAYTON – The University of Dayton men's tennis team will host Northern Kentucky in a midweek contest on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at South Regency Tennis Center in Miamisburg.

The Flyers swept Xavier last Friday for both UD's first road win of the season and the 100th career victory for head coach Ryan Meyer. It was the second straight win for Dayton and marked the seventh win in the last eight contests to put the team's overall record at 7-5. Dayton won 12 of the 14 sets against the Musketeers in singles play, which included four straight-set wins.

Northern Kentucky enters the match undefeated in 2021 with a 4-0 record to this point in the season. The last match for the Norse ended in a 5-2 victory over Eastern Illinois on March 5, and this marks just the second time that NKU will compete in a road match this year. Emilien Burnel leads the Norse in singles play, compiling a 3-1 record in No. 1 singles to this point. The sophomore from France has won each of his last three singles matches.

The Flyers hold the advantage in the series history between these two schools, with Dayton going 10-4 in those matches including taking the last three matches against NKU. The Flyers are 8-3 in home matches against Northern Kentucky and will look to stay undefeated at home in 2021.
