DAYTON - The University of Dayton softball team will open the Atlantic 10 Conference portion of its 2021 schedule this weekend at home against St. Bonaventure. The Flyers and Bonnies are set for back-to-back doubleheaders March 26 and 27 at UD Softball Stadium.

SCOUTING ST. BONAVENTURE
St. Bonaventure (0-6, 0-4 A-10) just recently opened its 2021 schedule and has only had six games to date. On Sunday, the Bonnies dropped two games at Binghampton as the Bearcats claimed an 8-0 (5) and a 7-3 win at home. Over its first six games, SBU's Emily Lewandowski leads the team with a .333 average on the strength of a team-high four hits and Olivia Whitecar is a perfect 3-for-3 in stolen bases. On the circle, Ally Haskell (3-3) has put in a team-high 16.0 innings of work and has recorded a team-best 13 strikeouts.
ABOUT DAYTON
Dayton (5-12, 0-0 A-10) opened this week with a single game against regional foe Miami (Ohio) on Wednesday at home. The RedHawks used a big sixth-inning rally to pick up a 13-5 win over the Flyers at UD Softball Stadium. This weekend's games will be the first conference contests of the season for Dayton. On offense, the Flyers have three everyday players hitting above .300 led by freshman
Megan Ward (.379). Ward has tallied a team-high 22 hits and scored a team-best 11 runs while senior
Abby Ehrenborg has collected 19 RBI on 16 hits, including seven home runs. UD's pitching corps is led by freshman
Addy Bullis (3-3) who carries a team-low 1.88 ERA with 34 strikeouts over 41.0 innings pitched.
ATLANTIC 10 FORMAT
The Atlantic 10 will be divided into two divisions with five teams in each regionally-based pod. Dayton will be competing in the central division which also features George Mason, St. Bonaventure, Saint Louis and George Washington. The north division is made up of Fordham, La Salle, Saint Joseph's, Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Also new to the 2021 Atlantic 10 schedule is that conference series have moved from three to four-game series, featuring doubleheaders each day of the two-day series.
ATTENDANCE AT UD SOFTBALL STADIUM
Based on campus and local COVID-19 protocols and capacity restrictions, Dayton home athletic events will not be open to the general public. Limited seating is available to guests of Dayton student-athletes (names must be on a pass list for admission). Currently, visiting team fans are not permitted in/at the facility. Additionally, attendance at Dayton home athletic events will be socially distanced and fans are required to wear masks. These protocols will be reviewed as the season progresses.
