LEXINGTON, Ky. - University of Dayton junior outside hitter
Jamie Peterson has been named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association All-America Third Team. This is Peterson's second All-America honor as she was named to the Honorable Mention Team in 2019, becoming Dayton's 17th All-American.
This is the third time in program history a Flyer has earned mention on the All-America Third Team.
Peterson, this year's Midwest Region and Atlantic 10 Player of the Year, paced the Flyer offense with 4.21 kills/set (36th NCAA) and 0.56 aces/set (9th NCAA) while carrying a .307 hitting percentage. She recorded four double-doubles and had three matches with 20 or more kills, including a career-high 28 in Dayton's 3-2 win at Wright State on Feb. 16.
Each of the three AVCA All-America Teams is comprised of 14 athletes. The AVCA All-America Honorable Mentions are selected in combination with all players named Conference Player of the Year and a group of 30 additional athletes identified by the All-America Committee. The Division I AVCA National Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year will be announced on April 22nd.
