Ali Green Named Dayton Women's Golf Head Coach

Green Led Lakota East to Three State Championships

DAYTON – University of Dayton Vice President and Director of Athletics Neil Sullivan has announced the hiring of Ali Green as the Flyers next women's golf head coach.

"We're excited about the continued success of our women's golf program under Ali Green's leadership," commented Sullivan. "She has an exceptional, active playing career and teaches the game at all levels. Our staff and student-athletes welcome her as we continue the excellence of graduating student-athletes and preparing them for the world after college athletics. We look forward to introducing her to the UD community."

Green, a Cincinnati native, has spent the last five years at the helm of the Lakota East High School girls' golf program, leading the Thunderhawks to three Ohio state championships. She was also a four-year standout for the Ashland University women's golf team as a three-time NCAA DII National Championship qualifier.

"I have seen college golf from the playing side and I am thrilled to be able to experience college golf from the coaching side," Green said. "I cannot wait to get the team back on campus and get to work."

A competitive golfer herself, Green claimed her second Ohio Women's State Amateur championship on July 1, 2021. She claimed the title 1-up in the 18-hole final match.

This past summer, Green became the first female to ever play at the 2020 Tony Blom Metropolitan Amateur Championship, traditionally known as the Cincinnati men's amateur championship. After advancing to match play as the 64th seed, she took then-defending champion and current Dayton men's golfer Kyle Schmidt to 18 holes before losing 1-up. Green also claimed the 2019 Ohio Women's Amateur Championship and the 2017 Cincinnati Metro Women's Championship titles.

The Dayton women's golf fall 2021 schedule is set to get underway Sept. 13-14 at the Roseann Schwartz invitational hosted by Youngstown State at Mill Creek Golf Course in Boardman, Ohio.
