DAYTON – The University of Dayton has announced that it will host Virginia Tech in men's basketball on Sunday, Dec. 12. Dayton will return the game at Virginia Tech during the 2021-22 season.
The last game between the Flyers and Hokies was in the semifinals of the 2019 Maui Jim Maui Invitational Tournament, with UD winning 89-62 on Nov. 26, 2019. This will be Va. Tech's first visit to UD Arena since Jan. 9, 2000, a 62-59 Dayton win, when the Hokies were a member of the Atlantic 10 Conference.
This will be the first team from the Atlantic Coast Conference since Georgia Tech came to the Arena on Dec. 21, 2014.
Virginia Tech was 15-7 last season, and reached the NCAA tournament.
Dayton was 14-11, and played in the NIT. The Flyers return eight letterwinners, and add three immediately-eligible Division I transfers and a nationally-ranked recruiting class for the 2021-22 season.
