RICHMOND, Ky. - The University of Dayton men's golf team opened its 2021-22 season with a second-place finish at the EKU Intercollegiate. The two-day event was held at The University Club at Arlington and hosted by Eastern Kentucky. The course was played at par 70 and 6,653 yards.
Dayton posted a team score of 281-276-279=836 (-4) while team champion Western Carolina took top honors with a 15-under-par team score. Junior
Kyle Schmidt was the Flyers' top finisher, claiming runner-up honors with his score of 68-66-68=202 (-8). He finished two strokes behind the Catamounts' Jake Peacock.

UP NEXT
Dayton is set to participate in the annual Joe Feaganes Invitational hosted by Marshall Sept 13-14. The two-day event will be played at Marshall's home course, the Guyan Golf and Country club in Huntington, West Virginia. During the 2019-20 season, Dayton finished in 2nd place out of a field of 16 teams at the Feaganes Invite.
