LEXINGTON, KY – The University of Dayton women's track and field team opened up their 2022 spring season on Friday and Saturday, as they visited the Nutter Field House at the University of Kentucky. The Flyers set several personal bests, and even a school record en route to a solid meet to open the campaign.

"We had a great opener today at Kentucky's invitational," commented head coach Jason Ordway. "We had quite a few personal bests, collegiate bests, and all-time marks to set us off on a strong start. Chante Clinkscale, Kaira Granger, and Lainey Studebaker led the charge in the 60m, 200m, and 3000m. Having missed last years' indoor season, it was just a blessing to be able to compete again and refamiliarize ourselves with indoor competition. We've got some of the rust off and now we're looking forward to competing again at Indiana next weekend."

Chante Clinkscale set a new Dayton record in the 60m race during prelims on Friday, running the race in just 7.44 seconds. Clinkscale would go on to win the 60m race outright, beating her own record and posting another new record 7.43 in the finals, winning by .01 seconds. Kaira Granger also finished top five in the 60m race. Lainey Studebaker led the way for the Flyers on the long distance side, posting a third place finish in the women's 3000 meter race, while Melissa Weidner placed second overall in the finals of the women's 5000m.

 The Flyers will return to action next Friday, as they travel to Bloomington, Indiana for the Gladstein Invitational. Competition at the Harry Gladstein Fieldhouse will take place on Friday and Saturday.
