Men's, Women's Cross Country Finish Strong at Bowling Green

Flyers Round Out Regular Season With Pair of Strong Finishes

BOWLING GREEN, OHIO – The University of Dayton men's and women's cross country programs rounded out the regular season of competition on Friday, as they traveled to the Falcon Collegiate Cross Country Invitational, hosted by Bowling Green State.

"The program had a strong day today with good competition and an even stronger wind," commented head cross country coach David Dobson. "I'm proud of the response of our athletes in those circumstances and how we represented our team and university. Wind is a challenging foe for any runner and we couldn't get away from it. But like any disciplined team, we leaned into the challenge and worked hard. I am happy to see that from our team and excited for what lies ahead at A-10's in two weeks."

The men's program earned a convincing overall win in the event, finishing with just 34 points. Bryce Conley was the fastest finisher for the Flyers, finishing the 8K race in 24:59.4, good enough for him to finish 3rd overall among over 110 competitors. Sam Duncan (25:06.1), Connor Ewert (25:11.9, new personal best), and Andrew Schuster (25:13.8) were the other three top-10 finishers that helped propel Dayton to the victory.

On the women's side, the Flyers ran their way to a second place overall finish on the heels of strong performances from Emily Sreenan and Abby Carter. Sreenan led the way for the Flyers in the 6K race, finishing ninth overall with a time of 21:53.5. Carter was close behind, finishing 10th overall with a 21:55.0. Freshman Marissa Pritchett also finished in the top-20, placing 18th with a time of 22:17.1.

The Flyers will now turn their attention to training for the Atlantic 10 Cross Country Championships. This year's conference championships will be held at Pole Green Park in Mechanicsville, Va, and will be hosted by the University of Richmond. The event, held on Oct. 29, will feature a 5K race for the women, beginning at 10:00 a.m., and a five mile race for the men, beginning at 10:50 a.m.
