DAYTON- The University of Dayton women's soccer team will take on No. 4 seed Davidson Wednesday night at Baujan Field in a battle for a spot in the Atlantic 10 championship game.
The match is set for a 7 p.m. kickoff between the Wildcats and No. 2 seed Dayton.
FLYER FACTS- The Flyers enter the match after winning their last three games and sit at 15-3-1 overall. Dayton was 8-2 in A-10 play during the regular season, including a 1-0 win on the road at Davidson on Sept. 15. Junior
Itala Gemelli scored the game-winner in the first matchup this season.
The Atlantic 10 announced its end of the season awards on Tuesday with seven UD student-athletes recognized for their accomplishments this year. Gemelli was named First Team All-Conference and Academic All-Conference while senior
Mackenzie Lutz joined her on the First Team. Senior
Alicia Donley earned Second Team All-Conference accolades with freshmen
Ella Raimondi and
Batoul Reda picking up All-Rookie team honors. Seniors
Jessica Sheldon and
Audrey Steiert joined Gemelli on the All-Academic Team as well.
SCOUTING DAVIDSON- Davidson comes into the match after earning a 2-0 victory against Duquesne. Their overall record for the season is 13-2-4. With thirteen shutouts they are ranked first in the A-10. The Flyers faced Davidson once this season, a 1-0 victory for the Flyers at Davidson.
UP NEXT – If victorious Wednesday, the Flyers will take on the winner of No. 1 seed Saint Louis and No. 6 seed Saint Joseph's in the championship on Sunday, Nov. 6 at 12 p.m.
