NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Two University of Dayton volleyball players have been named to the 2022 Atlantic 10 All-Conference First Team. Sophomore Lexie Almodovar and junior Amelia Moore each received conference postseason honors as announced by the league office Thursday ahead of the 2022 A-10 Championship.

Moore was also recognized on the All-Academic Team for the second-consecutive season.

Regular season champion Loyola Chicago and second-place finisher Davidson split top honors: Karlie McNabb (LCU) - Player of the Year, Bella Brady (DAV) - Libero of the Year, Bree Borun (LCU) - Setter of the Year, Emma Slusser (DAV) - Rookie of the Year, Chris Willis (DAV) and Amanda Berkley (LCU) - Co-Coaches of the Year.

The major awards, All-Conference Teams and All-Rookie Team were voted on by the A-10 head volleyball coaches. The All-Academic team was selected by the volleyball media relations directors.

This is the second All-Conference First Team honor for Almodovar who leads the A-10 with 3.91 kills/set and 4.51 points/set while ranking fourth in the league with 0.39 aces/set. The outside hitter has posted seven double-doubles on the season including a season-high 26 kills to go with 15 digs at Saint Louis on Oct. 29.

Moore, who was also named to the First Team for the second time in her career, ranks second in all of NCAA DI with 157 total blocks on the season while also ranking third in the A-10 with 1.32 blocks/set and a .342 hitting percentage. The middle blocker has had double-digit kills 14 times this season including a career-high 16 kills against Villanova on Sept. 9 and she picked up three weekly conference honors this year.

The 2022 Atlantic 10 Volleyball Championship begins with two Friday matches between No. 4  George Washington and No. 5 Saint Louis in the first quarterfinal at 2:00 pm ET / 1:00 pm CT and No. 3 Dayton and No. 6 VCU in the second quarterfinal at 4:30 pm ET / 3:30 pm CT. Saturday's semifinals are also at 2 and 4:30 pm ET / 1 and 3:30 pm CT and will feature No. 1 Loyola Chicago vs. the GW/SLU winner and No. 2 Davidson against the UD/VCU winner. The championship final will be played Sunday at 1:00 pm ET / Noon CT. All five matches of the A-10 championship will be streamed live on ESPN+.

DAYTON IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP
Dayton is making its 23rd-consecutive and 26th overall appearance in the Atlantic 10 Championship in 2022. The Flyers have reached conference post-season play every year they have been a member of the A-10 except 1995 and 1999. UD holds a 33-10 record in league tournaments matches. The Flyers have won the A-10 Championship title a league-record 15 times (2021, 2020, 2019, 2018, 2016, 2015, 2014, 2012, 2011, 2010, 2009, 2007, 2005, 2004, 2003). Last season, Dayton dispatched host Duquesne, 3-2, in the semifinal round before defeating Fordham in straight sets to win the title.
