NASSAU, Bahamas – The University of Dayton women's basketball team were tied with the University of Mississippi in the fourth quarter, but were unable to get it done in a 63-50 loss to open up the Baha Mar Pink Flamingo Championships opener.
The Flyers (0-5) fought to the very end, but could not surpass the Rebels (5-0).

GAME BREAKDOWN
1st Quarter: Dayton 15, Ole Miss 17
- Ole Miss took the initial lead, but a big three by junior Anyssa Jones put Dayton up 3-2 early on.
- The two teams traded shots back and forth with every shot being contested over the opening four minutes.
- The Rebels hit a three to take a lead, before junior Taisiya Kozolova nailed a corner three to cut the margin to one, 11-10, at the media timeout.
- Sophomore Shannon Wheeler had a fast-break layup out of the break to put the Flyers back ahead by one.
- Both teams faced scoring droughts over the next 2:30, but foul trouble for the Rebels gave the Flyers free shots at the line.
2nd Quarter: Dayton 25, Ole Miss 30
- Dayton managed to tie the game up on a nice take from redshirt senior Maliya Perry to tie the game up at the 8:40 mark.
- The Flyers put together a 4-0 run to take a 21-19 lead with 7:09 to play, forcing a Rebel timeout.
- Midway through the quarter though, Ole Miss had answered with a 7-0 stretch of their own to lead 26-21.
- Dayton suffered during a five-plus minute drought before a long two by Kozlova ended the skid.
- Despite the drought, the Flyers were still within striking distance at five points.
- Kozlova and Bohanon both had five points each to lead Dayton while senior Mariah Perez added four points and five boards. They also held Ole Miss' leading scorer to 0-for-7 shooting
- UD out-shot Ole Miss in all three phases on offense and had eight assists on nine field goals.
3rd Quarter: Dayton 40, Ole Miss 42
- Ole Miss got an and-one to start the third, pushing the margin to eight.
- The Rebels continued to increase the tempo, but a three from Kozlova killed the momentum nearing the midway point in the third.
- At the media timeout, the score was 38-32 in favor of Ole Miss.
- A pair of free throws out of the break by Bohanon made it a four-point contest with 4:33 remaining, while Ole Miss was amidst a three-minute scoring drought.
- The Rebels were forced to call a timeout with 2:16 on the clock after buckets by Bohanon and Wheeler made it a 40-38 contest.
- Ole Miss went 1-for-10 during the stretch that got Dayton back within a possession.
- A steal by freshman Nayo Lear and a layup at the buzzer made it a two-point game.
4th Quarter: Dayton 50, Ole Miss 63
- Jones drilled a jumper to start the fourth, tying the game up at 42-42. The first tie since the 8:41 mark in the second.
- At the 7:24 mark with the score tied 44-44, UD head coach Tamika Williams-Jeter called a timeout to regroup her squad.
- Seven straight points for the Rebels gave them a seven-point advantage near the midway point in the fourth.
- Ole Miss continued to push and got the margin to double digits by the 3:35 mark.
- In the end, Dayton ran out of time to mount a comeback.
