SAINT LOUIS- The University of Dayton women's soccer team will take on No. 1 seed Saint Louis Sunday afternoon in St. Louis, MO for the chance to claim the Atlantic 10 Championship title for the first time since 2016.
The championship match is set for a 1:00 p.m. kickoff between the Flyers and the Billikens.
FLYER FACTS- The Flyers enter the match riding with the momentum of a 1-0 win in the semifinal match vs. Davidson. The Flyers have been led by their defense all season long, holding their opponents to 0.7 goals per game. This is in large part to strong goalkeeping with freshman Batoul Reda recording a save percentage of .818% as well as six shutouts in conference play ranking her fourth and fifth respectively.
The Flyers have been tremendously successful on the road this season as they have posted an 8-0 record on the road. With a chance to claim the A-10 Championship title on Sunday, they will turn to their leading goal scorer Itala Gemelia (12) and assist leader Natalie Hegg (6).
SCOUTING SAINT LOUIS- The Billikens earned a spot in the Championship match after claiming a 2-0 victory over Saint Josephs. Their overall record on the year is 19-1 posting a 10-0 record in conference play. With 61 total goals they are ranked first in the A-10 and have a 1-0 record vs the Flyers so far on the season.
UP NEXT – If victorious Sunday, the Flyers will claim their first A-10 title since 2016 and earn an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament. Play would begin Friday, November 11 following the selection show Monday, November 7.
