DAYTON – The University of Dayton men's tennis team will continue the 2022 season on Sunday at Toledo. The match is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. at Shadow Valley Tennis Club in Toledo.
The Flyers will enter the contest 6-4 after defeating Cleveland State on the road over the weekend. Freshman
Eric Perkowski won his ninth singles match this season and earned his fourth Atlantic 10 Men's Tennis Rookie of the Week award of the season.
Redshirt senior
Steven Karl also won against the Vikings, picking up his 60
th career singles win, making him one of just 10 in program history to accomplish that feat. Karl also sits just four wins behind Brad Nykiel and Jordan Benjamin for eighth all-time.
Sophomore
Ronit Hiryur picked up his team-leading 11
th win of the year and junior
Connor Bruce reached double digit victories for the second-straight season.
Toledo enters the weekend 4-4 and will open the weekend with a match against IUPUI on Friday. The Rockets have won three straight matches, beating Marquette and Illinois State last weekend and Northwestern Ohio on Wednesday.
Pawit Sornlaksup has led Toledo all season, playing all eight matches at the top singles flight. The sophomore owns a 6-2 record in those matches to lead the Rockets in singles wins. Toledo has also been strong in the fourth singles flight, with Krzysztof Wetoszka and Marko Galic combining for a 3-0 record in No. 4 singles. Luka Jankovic has also been strong for Toledo, combining for an 8-3 record between doubles and singles this season.
