OXFORD, OHIO – The University of Dayton women's track and field team opened the 2022 outdoor track and field season on Friday, as they traveled to nearby Oxford, Ohio for the Miami Blizzard Buster. The Flyers continued their momentum from the indoor season to the outdoor track, as several athletes won events outright, as well as setting new personal bests.

Zoe Chappelle led the day off for the Flyers, as she won the 3000m steeplechase outright with a time of 11:25.85. Katherine Lechowicz finished second with a time of 12:37.37.

The Flyers had a solid outing in the field events, with newcomer Luisa Himmler kicking things off by winning her first appearance as a Flyer in the javelin toss, posting a final mark of 38.37m.
Carolyn Bakx won her first outing of the outdoor season in the pole vault, with a final height of 3.50m. Graduate student
Taylor Flight placed second overall in the discus throw, with a toss of 45.60m. To cap off the day,
Jayla Pruitt finished second overall, placing a UD top-five distance of 11.37m.

The Flyers will return to action next Thursday – Saturday, Mar. 24-26, as they travel to Raleigh, N.C. for the Raleigh Relays, hosted by North Carolina State University.
