INDIANAPOLIS – The University of Dayton women's rowing team continued the spring season Saturday with a competition against Atlantic 10 foe Duquesne University.
Â
"Both teams braved the elements in Indianapolis," said head coach Mike Wenker. "After a rough start, the novice pushed through the competition to finish ahead of Duquesne 3V and N8+ in the final race of the day. The Varsity 4+ put together a good start and the 2v8+ persevered despite the elements. The varsity 8+ grabbed a length through the first 500 and settled into a good rhythm through the middle of the race and pulled away in the final thousand."
This was the second regatta of the season for the Flyers and another strong showing despite tough weather conditions.
The Flyers posted the following times:
Varsity 8+
- Dayton – 7:06.2
- Duquesne – 7:16.20
2 Varsity 8+
- Duquesne – 7:18.26
- Dayton – 7:23.7
3 Varsity 8+
- Dayton – 7:49.44
- Duquesne – 7:58.14
- Duquesne N – 8:48.91
Varsity 4+
- Duquesne – 8:06.92
- Dayton – 8:27.00
"The winds increased and the temperature fell after the 3V/N8+ race and the coaches decided against the 500s," Wenker added. "We would like to thank IRC and Duquesne University for hosting us this weekend and the parents and alumni who came to support the team."
Dayton returns to action Sunday, April 3 at home against the Ohio State Club Team in a scrimmage.
