DAYTON – The University of Dayton alumni team Red Scare announced that it has added Flyer standout front court player Josh Cunningham to its roster in The Basketball Tournament (TBT) this summer.
Cunningham joins the previously announced core of Red Scare players of Darrell Davis, Trey Landers, Ryan Mikesell, Vee Sanford, Scoochie Smith and Joe Thomasson.
A 2019 UD graduate, Cunningham came back from a horrific ankle fracture suffered as a sophomore to be a two-time All-NABC All-District selection. He averaged 15.6 points and 8.4 rebounds as a junior, and had the fifth –best FG% in the nation (.646, 186-288). As a senior, he had averages of 13.3 and 6.2, and graduated with the now-third-best career FG% (.639, 367-574) in UD history. He also holds the Dayton record for most consecutive field goals made, with 22 in three-game stretch in the 2017-18 season.
After finishing his college career, Cunningham has played professionally in The Netherlands, New Zealand and Bosnia. He also played for the Westchester Knicks in the G League. This season he was with Borac Nektar in the Bosnian Division I league.
For all of the former Flyer players, this will be their first opportunity to play in front of the Flyer Faithful at UD Arena since they finished their Dayton basketball careers.
