DAYTON – The University of Dayton baseball team dropped the series finale 7-5 to Richmond at Woerner Field at AES Ohio Stadium on Sunday afternoon. Junior
Omar Daniels went 2-for-3 with an RBI on the day to pace the Flyers on offense.

Six different Flyers picked up hits on the afternoon, including junior
Ben Jones who went 1-for-3 with two runs scored against the Spiders.

The Flyers fall to 22-25, 9-12 in Atlantic 10 play with the loss. Richmond improves to 24-23, 9-12 against conference opponents with the win.

ON THE MOUND
Sophomore
Parker Bard started the game for Dayton, pitching the first three innings allowing four runs on five hits, while picking up a pair of strikeouts. He was relieved in the fourth by sophomore
Eli Majick, who went the next three innings allowing two runs on three hits and picking up a strikeout of his own.

Austin Brush retired the first two Richmond batters in the seventh, allowing one run on two hits before junior
Nick Wissman entered to relieve him, finishing the game tossing 2.1 scoreless innings and striking out two.

Bottom 2: (1-0 Flyers)
Jones was hit by a pitch with one out and junior
Jose Martinez moved him up with a hit by pitch of his own. Senior
Jake Silverstein reached on an error and Daniels brought home a run with a bases loaded walk, giving the Flyers a 1-0 lead.

Junior
Keagan Calero led off the inning with a triple off the center field wall and would score on an RBI double by senior
Jay Curtis to extend the lead to 2-0.

The Spiders picked up six runs on four hits to take a 6-2 lead.

Bottom 5: (6-4 Spiders)
Graduate student
Henry Strmecki hit a one-out double down the left field line and moved to third on a fly out by Curtis. Jones brought him in to score with a base hit through the right side to cut the lead to 6-3. Walks by Martinez and freshman
Matt Maloney loaded the bases and Jones scored on a wild pitch to cut the lead to two.

Bottom 6: (6-5 Spiders)
Daniels led off the sixth with a double and moved to third on a passed ball. Calero scored him with a sacrifice fly to cut the lead to just one.

Top 7: (7-5 Spiders)
Back-to-back singles led off the seventh and a sac bunt moved both into scoring position, allowing a run to score on a wild pitch to make it 7-5 and finalize the score.

The Flyers will finish the regular season with a three-game series at Saint Louis beginning on Thursday at 6 p.m.
