DAYTON – The University of Dayton men's tennis team will continue their 2023 season on Wednesday, Jan. 18 at the University of Kentucky. The match is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. at Hilary J. Boone Varsity Tennis Complex in Lexington.
The Flyers will enter the contest 1-1 after coming off a big victory in a match against Purdue on Monday. The Flyers defeated Purdue with a score of 5-2 which gave the team their first win of the season.
Senior Connor Bruce is coming off a scorching hot start, picking up two wins in his first two singles matches. Already making a case to make a three-peat appearance for the All-Atlantic 10 First Team.
Sophomore Eric Perkowski has contributed to a good majority of the Flyers' victories with wins in both his singles and doubles match against Purdue. His partner, senior Georgi Mavrodiev, has also contributed his share winning his singles and doubles as well.
Kentucky will commence their season against the Flyers, having it be their first match. Last season, the Wildcats had a very strong season with a record of 28-6.
The Wildcats bring back many main contributors from their past season, one of them being Gabriel Diallo. Diallo is a 6 '7 senior who is officially ranked No. 248 in the current singles ATP Rankings.
