DAYTON – The University of Dayton cross country teams are returning to Fairborn, Ohio to close out their regular season where they started it on September 1. Only six Flyers will be competing this week (five men and one woman) because these athletes will not be competing in the A-10 Championships next week. Friday's race will be different from September because both teams are running a longer race and the environment will be significantly more wet and cold.
Start Times
Women's 6K: 4:00 p.m.
Men's 8K: 4:45 p.m.
Competing Flyers
Let's Remember September
The Flyers excelled in their season debut on September 1 at Wright State.
James Mroczka was the top rookie finisher with his 5K time of 15:32.5. This was a three-second improvement over his high school PR, and it earned him
A-10 Men's Rookie of the Week. Freshman
Joey Rempe also beat his 5K PR from high school by 13.4 seconds with his 16:16.6 time.
Last Week in Peoria
Last Friday's races at the Bradley Pink Classic included several PRs from both teams.
Sammie Wells set a 6K PR of 25:00.7 while finishing in 82nd place in the 'White Race'. Also, newcomer
Tyler Fecher completed his first collegiate race by finishing in 28:21.9 in the 8K 'White Race'.
Coach's Quote
Head Coach
David Dobson shared with us what he hopes to see from his team as the Flyers return to Fairborn Community Park. "I'm looking forward to seeing our racers show up, compete, and utilize an extra opportunity to race in the fall," said Dobson. "We are especially thankful for Wright State to host this late season opportunity. Our version of competing is staying engaged throughout a sub maximal effort from start to finish. I am hopeful our athletes will use this opportunity to grow in that way."
