Box Score 2 DeLAND, Fla. - The University of Dayton softball team split its first two games of the Frank Griffin Classic Friday on Opening Day. Dayton downed Providence, 10-4, in its morning match-up before falling to Fairleigh Dickinson, 2-0, in the afternoon. The three-day event is being hosted by Stetson at Patricia Wilson Field.
Dayton is 1-1 heading into games against Fairleigh Dickinson and Stetson Saturday.
GAME ONE
Dayton 10, Providence 4
7 - freshman
Izzy Kemp recorded a career-high seven strikeouts over three innings of relief in her collegiate debut
3 - senior
Kaelene Walter tallied a game-high three hits to go with two runs and one RBI
2 - sophomore
Emma Schutter was the second Flyer with double-digit hits, she also scored two runs and drew two walks

6 - senior Nicolette Papavisiliou recorded six putouts and two assists from behind the plate
6 - Kemp tallied six Ks in 2.2 innings of relief for a total of 13 on her first day of action as a Flyer

UP NEXT
On the second day of the Frank Griffin Classic, Dayton is slated to kick off Saturday with a rematch against FDU at 9:30 a.m. and will square off against host Stetson in the nightcap at approximately 5:30 p.m.
