Clark Adds Ethan Giese To #UDSB Staff Ahead Of 2024 Season

Giese to Serve as the Squad’s Pitching Coach

DAYTON – University of Dayton softball head coach Cara Clark has announced the addition of Ethan Giese to her coaching staff ahead of the 2024 season. Giese, who comes to Dayton from Wisconsin-La Crosse, will serve as the team's pitching coach.

"I am grateful and excited to join Coach Clark and her staff," said Giese. "The University of Dayton softball program has a history of success, and I look forward to being a part of continuing that tradition."

Giese has spent the past four seasons as the pitching coach for the UW-La Crosse Eagles and was recognized by the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference as part of the 2022 and 2023 conference Coaching Staff of the Year. The Eagles also collected 2022 and 2023 WIAC Pitcher of the Year honors as well.

The Eagles captured the 2023 WIAC regular season title and also claimed the 2023 WIAC tournament crown, earning the league's automatic bid to the NCAA DIII Softball Championship.

"I am excited to announce the addition of Ethan Giese to our coaching staff," commented Clark. "Ethan's success as a pitcher in men's fastpitch and experience coaching postseason collegiate softball is the right combination of experience to immediately benefit our team.  He will have a key role in our pursuit of the 2024 A-10 Championship."

In addition to his coaching experience, Giese has also been a men's fastpitch softball player for the past 13 years. He has competed in the Wisconsin, Minnesota and Illinois region and was a member of the 2014 Wisconsin NAFA State Championship squad and also helped his team to a third-place finish at the 2016 NAFA World Tournament.
