UD used a 15-1 run in the second half to top the Lancers 78-69. The loss was Longwood's second Quad 1 defeat of the season, both coming against the Atlantic 10. The Lancers opened the season losing at St. Bonaventure 73-69 but bounced back nicely, winning 12 in a row.  They open Big South play on the road tonight at Winthrop.

The Flyers non-conference schedule was designed to give Dayton the opportunity to compete for an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament and head coach Anthony Grant, addressed that to the media following UD's win over Longwood.

"You want to put together a schedule where you have a strong resume at the end of the year," commented coach Grant. "At Dayton, hopefully we can create paths where we don't have to just rely on winning three or four games at the end of the year to get into the tournament. A path where we can build a resume where we can be an at-large caliber team. That's what we try to do and, I think right now where we stand, we have an opportunity as we move into conference play to control our destiny as a group."
