WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Atlantic 10 Conference announced their weekly men's soccer awards and honored a pair of University of Dayton student-athletes.
Sophomore forward
Martin Bakken was named A-10 Offensive Player of the Week for the third time this season while freshman striker
Andrew Armstrong was named A-10 Rookie of the Week for the second time. Both players last received the awards together on the same day on Oct. 8.
Bakken recorded five points with a goal and three assists in Dayton's wins over No. 1 West Virginia and on the road at St. Bonventure Saturday. The Norwegian striker scored the game-winning goal and added two assists against the top-ranked Mountaineers before adding an assist on the game-winning goal against the Bonnies.
Armstrong scored the opening goal on the road at St. Bonaventure in route to a 2-1 victory over the conference foe and recorded five shots, four on target, last week. He played 135 minutes in the pair of games and has now started the last six games up front with Bakken.
The Flyers entered the week ranked No. 21 in the latest Top Drawer Soccer Top 25 poll and returns to action this Saturday at Davidson in A-10 action.
