Enoch Cheeks has been named this week's Atlantic 10 Player of the Week for his performance for the Flyers at the Maui Invitational, the league office announced Monday.
Against three Top 12 teams at the Maui Invitational, Cheeks averaged 15.7 points and 7.0 rebounds while shooting .548 (17-31) FG, and .474 3-pt, FG. The Providence, R.I. native scored 11 points and grabbed eight rebounds in a two-point loss to No. 12 North Carolina, and added 16 points and six rebounds in a five-point loss against fifth-ranked Iowa State.
Cheeks saved his best for the Flyers' third game in three days, playing 37 minutes, scoring 20 points, and grabbing seven rebounds in a win over second-ranked UConn. The senior made 8-of-12 field goals and 3-of-5 three-pointers in the contest, including a scoring barrage when he scored 10 of his 20 points in a three-minute span as UD took the lead from single digits to 16 with just over a minute to go.
UD is 6-2 on the season and plays Tuesday night against Western Michigan at 7 p.m. at University of Dayton Arena.
