ST. LOUIS – The Pioneer Football League has announced that a league-record 733 of its student-athletes have been named to the 2023 PFL Academic Honor Roll.  The University of Dayton contributed 76 of those student-athletes to the record.

Dayton's 76 were the second-most in the PFL this year, five behind Davidson.  UD has been first or second every year since the league started the Honor Roll in 2001.  That includes having the most 20 of the 23 seasons.  UD had a PFL-record 85 in 2019, and the 1,472 Flyers honored over the years are over 300 more than the next league team.

This is also the 12th time that the Flyers have had 70 or more honorees.  No other school has had 70 more than four times. 

Pioneer Football League athletic directors and coaches established the honor roll in 2001 as a way to recognize the league's outstanding student-athletes. To date, the league has recognized more than 10,000 student-athletes on the PFL Academic Honor Roll. 

The PFL Academic Honor Roll consists of student-athletes who participated in football at member institutions during the semester of competition and posted a 3.0 grade-point average or higher during the semester while enrolled full-time in accordance with NCAA rules.
