LA JOLLA, Calif. - The University of Dayton softball team swept its Friday doubleheader at UC San Diego Friday and the Flyers have now won six of their last seven games. UD outlasted UCSD, 4-2, in 10 innings in game one and cruised to the 5-1 win in the nightcap.
Dayton improves to 6-2 on the season while UC San Diego is now 1-9 overall.
GAME ONE
Dayton 4, UC San Diego 2 (10 inn.)
7 - as a staff, the Dayton pitchers recorded seven strikeouts to only one walk and allowed only one run over 10 innings
6 - graduate student
Emily Daniel tallied a career-high six putouts to go with one assist playing in left field
2 - Daniel posted a multi-hit game including her single in the 10th that scored what proved to be the game-winning run

Dayton 5, UC San Diego 1
6 - six different Flyers record a hit in the contest

Maddie Kapsimalis recorded her first career triple while knocking in two runs in the first inning

Sami Scholtz made her first career appearance after earning the starting nod for the Flyers, working 3.0 innings
