DAYTON - The University of Dayton softball team is set to open the Atlantic 10 Conference portion of its schedule this weekend with a three-game series at George Mason. The Flyers are traveling to Fairfax, Virginia, to take on the Patriots March 16-17 at George Mason Softball Complex.

ABOUT DAYTON
Dayton (10-8) closed out its pre-conference schedule March 9-11 at the Indiana Invite, posting a 3-2 record at the weather-altered three-day event. UD went 7-2 during the month of February, including a three-game series sweep at UC San Diego. The Flyers' offense is paced by freshman Kirnan Bailey (.333), the current A-10 Rookie of the Week, with 16 hits, 11 runs scored and seven stolen bases and graduate student Emily Daniel (.327) with 17 hits, 14 runs (t-5th A-10), 14 RBI (t-8th A-10) and 13 stolen bases (1st A-10). Sophomore Izzy Kemp (5-4) leads the Dayton pitching corps with a 1.86 ERA (t-1st A-10) and 61 strikeouts (1st A-10) over 56.1 innings of work.

SCOUTING GEORGE MASON
George Mason (7-16) was at Coastal Carolina's Beach Chicken Brawl March 8-10 followed by a single game at NC State on Tuesday and the Patriots are currently suffering through a seven-game losing skid. On offense, Rachel Warrens (.366 - 8th A-10) carries the team's best average to go with 26 hits (1st A-10), 13 runs, 12 RBI and 11 stolen bases (2nd A-10). In the circle for the Patriots,  

SERIES STUFF
Dayton leads, 18-11
Last season, Dayton picked up the 2-1 conference series win over George Mason in the Gem City after winning the first and last game of the weekend. The Flyers and Patriots first squared off on March 13, 1992 at the UNCW Invitational with Dayton coming away with a 4-1 win over Mason.

RPI RANKINGS
In the NCAA's Rating Percentage Index (RPI) through games on March 14, Dayton came in at 145 according to NCAA.com. George Mason was ranked 211.
