Softball Heading To NYC For A Three-Spot At Fordham

Dayton and Fordham to Play Three at the Rams' Bahoshy Field in the Bronx

DAYTON - The University of Dayton softball team is heading to New York City for a three-game A-10 series at Fordham this weekend. The Flyers and Rams will play two on Saturday beginning at 12:05 p.m. followed by a single game Sunday, also at 12: 05 p.m. All games will be played at Fordham's Bahoshy Field in the Bronx and admission is free.

All three games will be available to follow via live stats at FordhamSports.com and video stream on ESPN+.

ABOUT DAYTON
Dayton (18-16, 8-4 A-10) dropped two games to visiting Akron on a rainy Wednesday afternoon at UD Softball Stadium and head into the weekend suffering a three-game losing spurt. Junior Maddie Kapsimalis (.369) paces the Flyers' offense with 38 hits (7th A-10), 32 RBI (t-3rd A-10) and 22 walks (t-2nd A-10) while junior Emma Schutter (.300) has scored 24 runs (t-6th) on 36 hits (t-10th A-10). In the circle, sophomore Izzy Kemp (8-5) boasts the team' low ERA of 2.19 (1st A-10) with 83 strikeouts (t-5th) over 80.0 innings pitched.

SCOUTING FORDHAM
Fordham (18-19-1, 8-4 A-10) picked up an 8-1 win at West Point on Wednesday and the Rams have won six straight ahead of its home series against Dayton. The Rams' Sydney Wells (.327) has knocked out 10 home runs (1st A-10), collected 42 RBI (1st A-10) and drawn 21 walks (6th A-10) while Bailey Enoch (.314) has scored 30 runs (1st A-10) on 37 hits (t-8th). Devon Miller (8-6) leads the Fordham pitching corps with a 2.99 ERA (6th A-10) and 90 strikeouts (3rd A-10) over 110.0 innings pitched.

SERIES STUFF
Fordham leads, 31-28
While Dayton has won three of the last five meetings in the all-time series, Fordham had won eight straight dating back to the 2016 A-10 Championship. In 2022, the Flyers and Rams split two games in the Bronx on May 8.

RPI RANKINGS
In the NCAA's final Rating Percentage Index (RPI) through games on April 11, Dayton came in at 167 according to NCAA.com. Fordham was ranked 170.

CAREER CRIMINALS
With two stolen bases in Dayton's first game against George Mason on March 16, graduate student Emily Daniel became the program's career stolen base leader. Daniel, who spent her freshman season (2020) at Wright State, now has 72 career stolen bases over 178 games played as a Flyer, surpassing Molly Meyer (66) who previously held the record since 2010. Junior Emma Schutter moved into Dayton's top 10 all-time stolen bases list last season as well and is only two behind Daniel in second place with 70 career stolen bases.

THREE STRIKES YOU'RE OUT
Over 234.1 career innings pitched, sophomore Izzy Kemp holds the program record for most strikeouts per seven-inning game at 8.39. For the 2024 season, her 2.19 ERA and .190 opposing batting average currently rank first in the Atlantic 10. The 2023 A-10 Rookie of the Year tallied 198 strikeouts and posted 9.0 strikeouts per seven innings last season, which ranked 24th in all of Division I.
