BRONX, N.Y. - The University of Dayton softball team is set to take part in the program's 15th overall and 11th-consecutive Atlantic 10 Championship this week. After posting a 19-7 mark in league games this season, Dayton claimed the program's second A-10 regular season title and the No. 1 seed in the postseason tournament.

ABOUT DAYTON
Dayton (30-19) claimed the program's second Atlantic 10 regular season title after posting a 19-7 record in league action, earning the top seed at this year's championship. The Flyers posted their second-consecutive and fifth overall 30-win season in 2024 and UD closed out the regular season with a 2-1 series win at Saint Louis. Dayton has won 12 of its last 14 games.
Junior second baseman
Maddie Kapsimalis leads the Flyers' offense with a .349 average (5th A-10), 43 RBI (t-3rd A-10), 30 walks (5th A-10), 10 doubles and eight home runs (t-5th A-10) while junior outfielder
Emma Schutter (.308) has a team-best 53 hits (t-7th A-10) and 33 runs scored (7th A-10) to go with 25 stolen bases (27th NCAA).
In the circle, sophomore
Izzy Kemp (10-6) carries the team's low ERA of 1.91 (1st A-10) and has tallied 123 strikeouts (3rd A-10) over 102.2 innings pitched. Junior
Haven Dwyer (13-5) finished the A-10 slate ranked first in the league in conference games with a 1.41 ERA and 10 wins.

In the NCAA's Rating Percentage Index (RPI) through games on May 7, Dayton came in at 138 according to NCAA.com.

Emily Daniel became the program's career stolen base leader and has a carer-high 30 stolen bases (11th NCAA) on the season. Daniel now has 82 career stolen bases over 193 games played as a Flyer, surpassing Molly Meyer (66) who previously held the record since 2010. Junior
Emma Schutter moved into Dayton's top 10 all-time stolen bases list last season and is five behind Daniel in second place with 77 career stolen bases.

Izzy Kemp holds the program record for most strikeouts per seven-inning game at 8.74. For the 2024 season, her 1.91 ERA and .177 opposing batting average currently rank first in the Atlantic 10 while her 8.4 strikeouts per seven innings this season ranks 27th nationally.
