DAYTON - The University of Dayton women's soccer team is set to play host to No. 19 Xavier Sunday night under the lights at Baujan field. The Flyers and Musketeers are set to kickoff at 7 p.m. Aug. 25, the second of three-consecutive home matches for UD.

ABOUT DAYTON
Dayton (2-0) has started the year unbeaten over its first two matches for the fifth season in a row. Current Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week Liv Grenda leads the team and ranks second in the league with three goals and six points, averaging 4.50 shots/game. In goal for the Flyers, junior Batoul Reda has played all 180 minutes for UD this season and ranks second in the A-10 with eight saves.

SCOUTING NO. 19 XAVIER
Xavier (3-0)  Flyer fans will see a familiar face on the Musketeers' sideline as Dean Ward is in his first season at the helm of XU's program. Ward spent five years on staff at Dayton under coach Golz before taking the top job at Lenoir-Rhyne ahead of the 2022 season. Xavier, ranked No. 19 in the latest United Soccer Coaches top-25 poll, is led by Olivia Lawson with three goals and one assist while keeper Maria Galley carries a 1.00 GAA.

SERIES STUFF
One of Dayton's most-played opponents, the Flyers lead the all-time series 26-10-4, dating back to 1984. The last time the pair squared off, the Flyers and Musketeers played to a 0-0 draw through two overtime periods on Aug. 29, 2019 in Cincinnati. Between 2001 and 2012, UD rattled off 14 wins against XU.

• Eric Golz is in his eighth season as head coach of the Flyers in 2024. His record at Dayton is 74-45-16 (.607) and his career win-loss mark sits at 94-61-21 (.594) over a total of 10 seasons. Golz has tallied the program's second-most wins, behind Mike Tucker who had 313 wins over 22 seasons (1995-2016) at Dayton.
• Freshman Liv Grenda claimed the Atlantic 10's first Rookie of the Week honor on Aug. 19 after scoring her first collegiate goal in Dayton's 2-1 win at Loyola Maryland on opening day.
• Dayton has won the Atlantic 10 Regular Season title 11 times (1996, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2009, 2010, 2013). The Flyers have captured the A-10 Championship title 10 times (1996, 1999, 2001, 2003, 2004, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2014, 2016). Over 28 appearances in the A-10 Tournament, UD has tallied a 34-11-5 record in the conference postseason championship.
• The Flyers finished the 2023 season with a 13-2-5 overall record and a 7-0-3 conference mark, finishing in third place in regular-season play.

LAST TIME OUT
Dayton is coming off 4-0 shutout win over Cleveland State on Wednesday in the Flyers' home opener at Baujan Field, the first of three-straight matches in the friendly confines of the team's on-campus field. As a team, Dayton tallied 20 total shots in the match with 12 different players registering at least one shot. Of those 20 shots, 12 were on target and newcomers junior Aya Saiki and freshman Liv Grenda each had two on goal.
