DAYTON - The University of Dayton women's basketball team finishes up the homestand with Atlantic 10 leaders University of Richmond Sunday, Jan. 26 at 1 p.m. at UD Arena.
SCOUTING THE FLYERS
Dayton sits at 12-7 overall on the season and 6-2 in A-10 play, tied for second in the conference. The Flyers are 10-2 at home this year and have won seven of their last eight games.
Head coach
Tamika Williams-Jeter is in her third season in charge of her hometown Flyers, coming over after a year at Wittenberg. She has assistant coaching stops at Kansas, Kentucky, Penn State, and Ohio State.
The Flyers are averaging 66.9 points per game and holding opponents to 62.3 points per game. Dayton is shooting 42.5 percent overall, 32.9 percent from three point range, and 69.8 percent from the free throw line.
Leading the way for the Flyers are seniors
Ivy Wolf with 17.0 points and 4.2 rebounds per game and
Arianna Smith with 11.6 points, 9.1 rebounds per game, and six double-doubles on the year.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
RICHMOND
Richmond holds the No. 1 spot in the A-10 standings with a 7-1 conference mark and coming off both regular season and tournament titles in 2024. The Spiders are 16-5 overall and 6-1 on the road this year.
Head coach Aaron Roussell is in his sixth season at Richmond and reigning A-10 Coach of the Year.
As a team, the Spiders are scoring 74.5 points each outing and stifling opposing offenses at 57.6 points per contest. Richmond is averaging 50.8 percent from the field, 41.3 percent from behind the arc, and 76.5 percent from the charity stripe. The Spiders are second in the nation in field goal percentage and first in three point percentage.
Richmond has three players averaging double digits in Rachel Ullstrom (16.6), Maggie Doogan (16.1), and Addie Budnik (10.5) while Ally Sweeney is adding 9.0 points and is shooting 58.3 percent from three.
SERIES HISTORY
The Flyers and Spiders are meeting for the second time this season and 33rd time in program history. Dayton holds a 19-13 series advantage, but the Spiders have won four straight including the match-up earlier this year in Richmond, 55-37.
