ST. LOUIS – The Pioneer Football League has announced its end-of-season awards and honored numerous University of Dayton student-athletes on this year's all-conference teams.
The Flyers have improved each year under head coach
Trevor Andrews and finished the 2025 season with a 7-4 record overall and 5-3 PFL mark. Dayton was competing down to the final two games for a shot at the title, but fell to eventual champions Drake.
On the PFL First Team this year was junior
Gavin Lochow (All-Purpose), senior
Ryan Iiams (offensive line), redshirt sophomore
Mirko Jaksic (defensive line), redshirt sophomore
Vincent Firenze (defensive back), and redshirt senior
Austin Yeager (long snapper).
Second Team All-PFL honorees included junior
Luke Hansen (running back), redshirt sophomore
Donovan Weatherly (fullback), redshirt sophomore
Brandon Martin (defensive line), and redshirt junior
Logan Forcum (punter).
Receiving Honorable Mention accolades this season were redshirt sophomore
Collin Ansel (defensive line), redshirt sophomore
Matthew Barnes (offensive line), redshirt sophomore
Joe Kingsbury (linebacker), redshirt junior
Luke Mitchell (defensive end), redshirt freshman
Michael Mussari (receiver), redshirt sophomore
Sam Schmiesing (linebacker), redshirt sophomore
Bryce Schondelmyer (quarterback), and redshirt sophomore
Josh Williams (defensive back).
This group of student-athletes helped rack up eight PFL weekly honors and national recognition with their win over No. 16/19 Presbyterian. All but the senior Yeager are expected to return for the 2026 season with the future looking bright for Dayton Football.
In last year's PFL release, six Flyers were honored while this season, Dayton had nine named all-league with eight more receiving at least one vote from a PFL coach to earn honorable mention.
