ST. LOUIS – The Pioneer Football League finished up its end-of-season awards with its All-Academic teams on Wednesday and multiple University of Dayton student-athletes were recognized once again.
The PFL released its major awards Monday before announcing the All-PFL teams Tuesday. This is the final list of honorees for the 2025 fall campaign.
The following Flyers were named to the All-Pioneer Football League All-Academic Teams:
FIRST TEAM

Gavin Lochow – Junior, WR, Communications (2

Cam Cope – RS-Junior, DB, Mechanical Engineering
Vincent Firenze – RS-Sophomore, DB, Mechanical Engineering

Mason Hackett – Junior, RB, Intervention Specialist
Ryan Iiams – Senior, OL, Management

Sam Schmiesing – RS-Sophomore, LB, Accounting

David Maurer – RS-Junior, PK, Business Administration

The PFL communications directors vote on the Academic All-PFL teams. Â Pioneer Football League athletic directors established the Academic All-PFL squads in 1993 as a way to recognize the league's outstanding student-athletes. To be eligible for Academic All-PFL consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00.
Dayton improved its win total once again, going 7-4 overall and 5-3 in the league play.
