DAYTON - The University of Dayton softball team opened Atlantic 10 Conference play with two wins over visiting Saint Louis. The Flyers claimed 4-0 and 13-8 wins over the Billikens Friday at UD Softball Stadium.
Dayton improved to 11-7 overall and is 2-0 in conference games while Saint Louis moved to 9-15 on the season and 0-2 in league games.
GAME ONE
Dayton 4, Saint Louis 0
3 - senior
Maddie Kapsimalis collected three RBI in the third inning on her first home run of the year
SB - senior
Emma Schutter collected two stolen bases
CG - junior
Izzy Kemp went the distance in the circle, earning her fourth complete game and second shutout of the season
Win - Kemp (5-2). Loss - Taylor Hochman (5-4). Save - None.
GAME TWO
Dayton 13, Saint Louis 8
28 - the Flyers (16) and Billikens (12) combined for 28 hits in the game
4 - senior
Chloe Wong was a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate with four runs scored, highlighted by two home runs - her second and third of the season
3 - Wong was one of four Flyers with multiple RBI as she knocked in three runs

UP NEXT
Dayton and Saint Louis are scheduled to close out their three-game series tomorrow. First pitch is set for 12:05 p.m. at UD Softball Stadium and admission is free. UD is scheduled for two mid-week games next week. The team will be at No. 23/RV Kentucky Tuesday for a single game at the Wildcats' John Cropp Stadium at 6p.m. followed by a match-up against Miami (Ohio) in Oxford Wednesday at 2 p.m. The game at Miami was originally supposed to be played at Dayton on March 5 but was rescheduled due to weather and field conditions at UD Softball Stadium.
