#UDSB Taking On No. 23 Kentucky Tuesday In Lexington

Dayton to Play at Miami (Ohio) Wednesday

DAYTON - The University of Dayton softball team will travel to Lexington tomorrow afternoon for a single game at No. 23 Kentucky. First pitch between the Flyers and Wildcats is set for 6 p.m. at UK's John Cropp Stadium.

ABOUT DAYTON
Dayton (12-7) opened Atlantic 10 Conference play last weekend with a 3-0 series sweep of Saint Louis at home, capping a 4-1 week for the Flyers. Senior Emma Schutter (.362) leads UD's offense with 25 hits, 20 runs scored and 10 stolen bases while Maddie Kapsimalis (.354) has knocked in 17 RBI on 23 hits for the Flyers. In the circle, junior Izzy Kemp (6-2) carries the team low ERA of 2.24 with 70 strikeouts and five complete games over 56.1 innings of work.

SCOUTING KENTUCKY
Kentucky (17-10) is coming off a three-game set at LSU over the weekend, dropping three to the fourth-ranked Tigers in SEC action. The Wildcats' offense is paced by Peyton Plotts (.365) with 31 hits, including nine doubles, and 26 RBI. Sarah Haendiges (4-2) leads the UK pitching corps with a 2.05 ERA with 46 Ks over 41.0 innings.

SERIES STUFF
Kentucky leads, 11-3.
Dayton and Kentucky last squared off on March 26 of last season in Lexington as the Wildcats held on for the 4-3 win over the Flyers.

LAST TIME OUT
Dayton and Saint Louis waited out a 1:40 weather delay Saturday to wrap up their three-game Atlantic 10 series with the Flyers coming out on top, 5-1. Senior Emma Schutter recorded two hits, her team-high-tying eighth multi-hit game of the season, and freshman Juliana Gonzalez sent home two runs with her single in the first inning, scoring what proved to be the winning run.

RPI RANKINGS
In the NCAA's most recent Rating Percentage Index (RPI) through games on March 16, Dayton ranked 135th according to NCAA.com. Kentucky came in at 29.

• Cara Clark is in her 18th season as head coach of the Flyers in 2025. Her record at Dayton is 425-432-2 (.496) and Clark's career win-loss mark sits at 556-558-2 (.499) over a total of 24 seasons. The game at Miami was originally supposed to be played at Dayton on March 5 but was rescheduled due to weather and field conditions at UD Softball Stadium.
