#UDSB Headed To Nation's Capital For A-10 Series At George Washington

Flyers and Revolutionaries to Play Two Saturday, One Sunday

DAYTON - The University of Dayton softball team will depart the Gem City Friday, heading east to the nation's capital for its three-game Atlantic 10 Conference series at George Washington this weekend. The Flyers and Revolutionaries will get started Saturday with a doubleheader at 12 p.m. at GW Softball Softball Field.

ABOUT DAYTON
Dayton (15-10, 5-1 A-10) played host to Butler for a single game on Wednesday, taking down the Bulldogs, 8-0, in six innings. Both UD and GW, along with SJU and Mason, sit atop league standings with a 5-1 mark after two weekends of action. Senior Emma Schutter (.412) leads the Flyer offense with 35 hits - including 11 for extra bases - 27 runs scored, 12 walks and 12 stolen bases while senior Maddie Kapsimalis (.360) has tallied 31 hits and knocked in a team-best 22 RBI. Junior pitcher Izzy Kemp (7-3) leads the team from the circle with a team-low 2.79 ERA to go with 79 Ks (55th NCAA) over 67.2 innings of work.

SCOUTING GEORGE WASHINGTON
George Washington (19-10, 5-1 A-10) opened its four-game homestand Wednesday with a 6-0 win over UMES at GW Softball Field. The Revolutionaries' offense is paced by Ashley Corpuz (.420) with 34 hits - including 10 doubles and 11 home runs - 30 runs scored, 38 RBI, 24 walks and 12 stolen bases. The GW pitching corps is led by Anna Reed (8-3) with a 2.92 ERA, 66 strikeouts in a team-high 64.2 innings pitched.

SERIES STUFF
Dayton leads, 28-26
In a series that dates back to 2003, UD leads GW by a slim two-game margin. Last season, George Washington took the conference series, 2-1, in Dayton.

LAST TIME OUT
Dayton shutout visiting Butler, 8-0, in six innings Wednesday at UD Softball Stadium. Three Flyer pitchers combined for the team's third shutout of the season. Senior Emma Schutter went 2-for-2 with two runs scored, extending her reached-base streak to 15 games, and sophomore Kirnan Bailey tallied two hits and knocked in two RBI.

RPI RANKINGS
In the NCAA's most recent Rating Percentage Index (RPI) through games on March 27, Dayton ranked 145th according to NCAA.com. George Washington came in at 203.

• Cara Clark is in her 18th season as head coach of the Flyers in 2025. Her record at Dayton is 428-435-2 (.495) and Clark's career win-loss mark sits at 559-561-2 (.499) over a total of 24 seasons. She has tallied the program's most wins and holds the all-time best winning percentage (.495) at Dayton.
• Dayton has won the Atlantic 10 Regular Season title two times (2024, 2015) and the Flyers have captured the A-10 Championship title once (2024).
