Men’s Tennis Prepares For James O’Connell Memorial Tournament

NKU Will Host The Tournament At The Lindner Family Tennis Center

DAYTON – The University of Dayton men's tennis team will continue its fall tournament season at the James O'Connell Memorial Tournament. It will be held on Sept. 26-28 at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason, Ohio.

Friday's matches will begin at 9:30 a.m., with a tentative start time of 9 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday. The tournament will be free for fans to attend, utilizing the south entrance of the facility.  

The tournament is in honor of former Dayton men's tennis player James O'Connell, who earned All-Atlantic 10 recognition three times in his career from 2005-08.

Dayton will be up against players from Ball State, Butler, Furman, IU Indy, Lipscomb, Northern Kentucky, Tennessee Tech and Xavier in the three-day tournament.

The Flyers are coming off of an exciting weekend at Intercollegiate Tennis Association's All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla., where Kyle McNally and Mikkel Zinder competed. Zinder advanced out of Pre-Qualifiers, becoming the second player in program history to make it to the Qualifying round.

UP NEXT
Dayton will compete at Atlantic 10 Individual Championships, hosted by Davidson, on Oct. 3-5.
