DAYTON – The University of Dayton men's tennis team will play its home opener on Saturday, Jan. 31 against Ball State and host Ole Miss on Sunday, Feb. 1.
Both matches will take place at South Regency Tennis Center. Saturday's match will begin at 4 p.m. with a 9:15 p.m. start on Sunday.
At Saturday's home opener, there will be free Cheryl's cookies for the first 100 fans in attendance.
The Flyers have not played since Jan. 14, after inclement weather canceled matches against Le Moyne and Youngstown State. In a doubleheader against Kentucky, Dayton fell to the Wildcats 6-1 in the first and 4-0 in the second.
The doubles win in the first match was the first point scored against Kentucky since 2017.
The Flyers most recently played against Ball State in the Ball State Indoor Invitational in November. UD played the Cardinals last February as well, dropping the match 5-2. Kyle McNally and Mikkel Zinder won their singles matches in the one and two spots, respectively.
Ball State is 3-1 this season. The Cardinals started the season with a 7-0 loss to Indiana but have won their last three.
UD has never played Ole Miss, but is no stranger to the SEC, having just played Kentucky.
The Rebels have a perfect 6-0 record, defeating Samford 7-0 in their most recent outing. Ole Miss has two doubles pairs that are currently ranked by ITA. Isac Stromberg and Kai Milburn are No. 11 in the country, with Loan Lestir and Matthieu Chambonniere at No. 20.
Dayton will have a short turnaround, taking on Louisville on Wednesday, Feb. 4 at 3:00 p.m.
