The 24th Annual Tony Ernst Memorial Golf Outing is scheduled for Friday, June 20, 2025 at the Golf Club at Yankee Trace. Play will get underway with a 1 p.m. shotgun start followed by dinner and program at 6 p.m.

Tournament History
The Tony Ernst Memorial Golf Outing was started in 2001 by the Ernst family in memory of Tony, who was a record-setting QB at Dayton in the 1990s. The Dayton football program has run the event in conjunction with the Ernst family since 2010. Nearly 75% of attendees every year are Dayton Football alumni. Last year, we had attendees who graduated from UD as far back as 1963 and as recently as 2022.
This year’s outing will be the 24th in the event’s history. Across the 24 years of the event, the Dayton Football program has raised more than $460,000. Proceeds of the event help pay for Dayton’s intern coaching positions. Many of these coaches have gone on to full-time high-level coaching jobs elsewhere, including five current coordinators and four current head coaches ranging from the NFL to college.
We choose a past Dayton team to honor every year, and this year we will be honoring the 1997 Pioneer Football League Championship Team. Past honored teams include the 1980, 1989, 2002 and 2007 national champions as well as multiple national runner-up teams and PFL championship teams.
