Mark Philmore

Mark Philmore II is in his second season at the University of Dayton.  He will serve as the wide receivers coach after holding the same position at West Virginia Wesleyan in 2016.  That was his first season as a college coach, but the Columbus, Ohio native also has six years of international coaching to his credit.

During those six years he worked in Poland and India developing and expanding the game of football.  During that time he played or coached in six national championships in two countries, winning three.  Philmore got his start overseas as an “import athlete” in 2010 for Crew Wroclaw, and quickly added coaching responsibilities.  As offensive coordinator for Wroclaw’s professional teams, he guided offenses that led the league in almost all offensive categories.

During the offseason of the Polish league, Philmore served as a coaching consultant in to the Elite Football league of India. While there, he visited universities across the country to recruit, evaluate, and develop talent for the newly created university teams to compete in the first ever National All-India Football Tournament.  After one year as a coaching consultant, he was brought back by the EFLIU to serve as the league’s “Head Coach of Coaches,” overseeing the entire eight-team league and the first-ever All-India Football Tournament.  He even chaired the committee that wrote the league rule book.

A 2006 Northwestern grad, Philmore was a four-year letterwinner for the Wildcats.  All-Big Ten as a junior and senior, he completed his career in Evanston fourth all-time in receptions (163) and fifth on all-time receiving yardage list (1,768 yards) at Northwestern.  He was a college teammate of current Flyer offensive coordinator Austin King, who graduated in 2004.  After Philmore’s senior season, he signed a free agent contract with the Chicago Bears.
