DAYTON, Ohio - The University of Dayton volleyball team won its eighth straight match with a 3-0 (30-14, 30-17, 31-29) victory over Atlantic 10 foe La Salle at the Frericks Center on Friday.
With the win, its 13th in its last 14 matches overall, Dayton (19-6, 10-1 A-10) has setup a chance to move to within one win of the A-10 Regular Season Championship if it defeats Temple on Senior Day, Saturday at 4 p.m. The Flyers are also just one win shy of their fourth consecutive 20-win season.
La Salle fell to 8-21 overall and 1-9 in Atlantic 10 play.
Dayton dominated the Explorers as they held a .308 to .036 advantage in hitting percentage. Junior setter
Nicole Schott (Roscoe, IL) dished out 39 assists to go along with 14 digs and seven kills for the Flyers. She now has 2,686 career assists to her credit and has moved into third place on Dayton's career assists list.
Sophomore middle blocker
Faye Barhorst (Fort Loramie, OH) led a trio of Flyers who reached double-digits in kills with 19. Barhorst hit .643 on the night while tallying a team-high four blocks, including two solos. Barhorst now has 40 solo blocks on the season, which matches her freshman total that ranked fourth best in UD single-season history. Her 80 solo blocks also rank her fourth all-time at UD.
Freshman Robynne Green (Palatine, IL) added 11 kills while hitting .474 and posting three blocks, two digs and a service ace.
Senior outside hitter
Christy Utnage (Indianapolis, IN) hit .308 while recording 10 kills, seven digs and three blocks. She is now just 16 kills shy of becoming the fifth player in school history to record 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs in a career.
Freshman libero Adrienne Green (Palatine, IL) anchored the Flyer defense with 18 digs on the night.
