The Flyers posted winning times in the Varsity 8 and Lightweight 8 races and came up just short in the Novice 8 in a dual with Ohio State's club team this weekend in Westerville, Ohio.
The Varsity completed the 2500-meter Hoover Reservoir course in 9:32.7, besting Ohio State by 18 seconds. The Lightweights finished in 9:47.3 to OSU's 10:31.9.
The Novice 8 fell short by 10.1 seconds to Ohio State's time of 10:44.3, but still made an impression on head coach Mike Farrey.
\"The novice boats have some very promising athletes, and they will be a contender at the A-10 Regatta this spring. They remind me of the group of girls that we had on novice two years ago, who were probably the fastest group of novice we've ever had at UD.\"
The dual wrapped up the fall season for the team, who will now start preparing for the more instense spring schedule.
\"I'm pleased with the results, but we are not firing on all cylinders yet,\" Farrey said. \"We believe this spring will be a very exciting one, and we are looking forward to realizing our potential.\"
