DAYTON ROWING BEGINS SPRING SEASON AGAINST DUQUESNE

March 25, 2006 DAYTON, Ohio - University of Dayton women's rowing got its 2006 Spring season started on a positive note by winning four of five races against Duquesne on Saturday morning at UD boathouse at Island Park. The Flyers were victorious in the Varsity Eight, Second Varsity Eight, Novice Eight and Novice Four races held in chilly conditions with minimal current and a light crosswind. The Dukes won the Varsity Four race on the Great Miami river. \"Across the board our boats finished very well,\" UD Head Coach Mike Farrey said. \"We had some scrimmages over Spring Break, but this was our first full 2000-meter race of the Spring. At this point we are still getting into our racing lineup, but right now we have faster boats from the Varsity Eight all the way down to the Novice boats.\" Dayton resumes its Spring schedule on Saturday in Bloomington, Ind. against Cincinnati, Eastern Michigan and host Indiana.
