ECHKO TO STEP DOWN AS DAYTON WOMEN'S TENNIS COACH

May 4, 2007

Erica Echko has announced that she will step down as the University of Dayton's women's tennis in order to pursue a full-time school counseling position. Echko coached Flyers the last two seasons while attending graduate school.

"I really enjoyed my time at UD working with everyone," Echko said, "but now that I have my graduate degree I am pursuing positions that will not allow me to devote the time necessary to continue to coach at the collegiate level."

Echko's two-year record was 15-27. Dayton placed 10th and 11th respectively at the Atlantic 10 Women's Tennis Championships.

"We appreciate all of Erica's efforts the past two years," Joe Owens, UD Associate Director of Athletics, said. "We congratulate her and wish her the best of luck."

A search for a new Flyer women's tennis coach will begin immediately.
