AMHERST, Mass. - The Dayton Flyer women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision in Atlantic 10 play to UMass (6-4-3, 3-2-1 A-10) Sunday at Rudd Field. The Flyers (9-4-1, 3-1-1 A-10), who suffered their first conference loss this season, outshot the Minutewomen 19-7 but could not convert any for a goal.
It marks the third time this season that the Flyers have lost 1-0, but the first time UD has lost to an unranked team this year.
The lone goal of the match was scored by the Minutewomen's Vanessa Lima in the 20th minute on a corner kick. The Flyer defense has struggled with set plays this season, with the majority of the goals against them coming on set pieces.
Dayton looks to rebound when they host A-10 foe St. Bonaventure this Friday, Oct. 17 at 7:30 p.m. at Baujan Field.
