DAYTON, Ohio -
The University of Dayton women's soccer team, ranked No. 1 in the Mid-Atlantic Region by the NSCAA, will play on the road in a battle of two Top 30 teams when it faces the Auburn Tigers Friday, Aug. 28 at 8 p.m. ET. The Flyers, selected to claim the Atlantic 10 women's soccer title this season, are ranked No. 27 in the Top Drawer Soccer Tournament 64 rankings, while Auburn is sitting at No. 25 in the poll. Following its match against Auburn, UD will fly back to Dayton to host Middle Tennessee State in its home opener Sunday, Aug. 30 at 1 p.m. ET at Baujan Field.
SERIES INFORMATION
• UD is 1-0 against Auburn, the Flyers claiming a 3-1 victory over the Tigers in the Nike/Clemson Invitational on Sept. 3, 2000.
• Sunday's match marks the first meeting between the Dayton Flyers and Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders.
FLYER NOTES

SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
AUBURN
• Auburn out-shot Samford, 17-5, Aug. 23 in the Tigers' season opener, but settled for a 0-0 double overtime tie.
• The Tigers host Dayton in their home opener.
• Auburn is ranked No. 25 in the Top Drawer Soccer Tournament 64 rankings.
• Goalkeeper Amy Howard was named the Southeastern Conference's Freshman of the Week following Auburn's season-opening match at Samford. Howard posted a pair of saves on five shots as Auburn held Samford scoreless.
• Auburn was picked to finish second to LSU in the SEC Western Division in a poll conducted by the league's 12 head coaches. Auburn garnered four of the 12 first-place votes in the West while LSU grabbed the other eight, tallying 63 points to Auburn's 58.
• Auburn has had six SEC All-Freshman Team selections since the award started in 2003. They are: Ronda Brooks (2003), Lauren Stewart (2004), Jenn Johnson (2005), Gabi Rivera (2006) and Katy Frierson and Julie King in 2008.
• Auburn's top assistant Amy Berbary, was Mike Tucker's top assistant coach at Dayton from 2004-07.
MIDDLE TENNESSEE STATE
• The Blue Raiders picked up an 11-1 win over Alabama A&M and 4-0 win over Tennessee Tech to start the 2009 campaign.
• Sophomore forward Shan Jones was selected as the Aug. 25 Sun Belt Player of the Week The honor was the first in her career and the first of the season in the league. She scored a school-record tying four goals in the 11-1 home-opening victory over Alabama A&M.
• Shan Jones currently leads the Sun Belt with four goals and 10 points.
• Shan Jones and Fran Howells were selected to the Preseason All-Sun Belt Team it was announced by the league office Tuesday. The Blue Raiders were picked to finish fourth in the 12-team league following a vote of the league's head coaches.
• The Blue Raiders moved into 10th in this week's National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) South Region poll following its two victories.
LOOKING AHEAD
The Flyers will travel to Coral Gables, Fla. to play in the Miami Tournament Sept. 4 & 6. They play Navy in the first round and then face Western Carolina.
